Thanks, Bethany

One of my good friends, Bethany gave me OU tickets for my birthday. I know right!!!! I was VERY excited, but my husband was way more excited, neither one of us had been to an OU football game. Well this past weekend that was no longer the case. The game was changed from a 7PM game to an 11AM game and I was greatful that it was changed. So we set out at 5:30AM to head to Norman and before we got out to the highway it started raining and didn't stop untill we got there and even then it misted THE WHOLE GAME. Not to mention the temperature steadily dropped and the wind blew and blew like it was gonna blow someone's house down the ENITRE game. Even though it goes with out saying (I'm going to say it anyway) WE FROZE OUR BUTTS OFF!!!!
It was definitely something that we will remember. But I guess it wouldn't be football if you didn't have to deal with weather right? We made it through the game, which is more than I can say for most of the people sitting around us who left during the first half if not before the end of the first quarter. So much for getting the wind blocked. hehe

Do you see all those empty seats? Its because people couldn't handle it or were smart enough to leave. Oh well, it was still fun and we had a great time.
OU won so it was well worth it. THANKS BETHANY!! It was great!!!
*Note to self- next game will NOT be in November.

Thankful

I am very thankful this holiday season and there is a lot to be thankful for. I am thankful for my Savior, my best friend/husband, my health, my family, good friends, my job (even though I hate it most days), and the freedom to be able to celebrate Thanksgiving and all of the holidays. Yesterday was filled with family and WAY to much food. We did three (yes 3) Thanksgivings in 5 hours. It goes without saying that by the end of the day my pants didn't fit, but it was well worth it and I'm already getting ready for Christmas (stretchy pants here I come)!!!
I am very Thankful for this man.

Went with my Mom this mornig to do a little Black Friday shopping. We didn't risk our lives and do the whole ten o'clock, midnight, or even six o'clock craziness like some people did. We left around eight this morning and didn't have to fight a hugh crowd. I was hoping that by the time we got there that all the crazy had left and for the most most it had. We didn't buy much, but going shopping on black Friday is something we've done for several years now and I'm sure we'll keep do it for many to come.

I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was as great as our and I hope the rest of the holiday season brings you joy.

Booby-Trapped

"Do you have this closet booby-trapped?" That's the question David asked about a closet where I keep most of my cake decorating stuff, mostly my cake pans. I thought it was a funny question and I replied with, "Yep I do." But then I got to looking at the closet and realized that it in fact did look like a booby-trap and was in series need of some organization. Not to mention I had other pans and things that needed to be put up and there was no way that I was going to be able to get it all in there.  So I made up my mind to finally get it cleaned out and organized. I'm not sure if you can really tell from the pictures how bad it really was (yeah, you can) or how much better and organized it looks after the clean up. But I can so tell and I'm glad that I did it. I just hope that I'll keep it neat and clean. So you tell me, can you tell a diffrence? Does anyone have any better suggestions/ideas for shapped caked pans and other cake decorating things? If so please let me in on the secret because I would LOVE to know. But until then this is what I came up with.

Here's the before

And the after

I can't think of way pretty way to stack shapped cake pans so that part doesn't look so great, but at least now I can find whatever cake pan I'm looking for. So it'll work until I get another idea. I've got lots of little home improvement ideas stirring in my head and I'm going to start with the master bathroom, so stick around and watch the magic happen (wink). Until next time, thanks for stopping by.

Still Celebrating

So here I am a week after my birthday and I'm still celebrating. Life is good! We had another "meeting of the minds" on Saturday and 5 of the 6 of us have birthdays in October and November so we just had one big party. It was a lot of fun just like any other time. We eat, talk, and laugh till we hurt. But we love it and I'm already looking forward to next months meeting, which will be held at our house, so lots to do before then. I've still got one more time to celebrate the big 3-0 with David when he gets home. Hmm, wonder if I'll be able to talk him into going to see Breaking Dawn?!??!? (wink) I mean how many times do you turn thirty? I'm not gonna hold my breath on that one though so I've already planned a "date" with Donna for that (just in case). Sooo looking forward to it. Can't wait. It's going to be great!
I'll leave you with a group shot of us party animals.

A page and a mini

I finally did a scrapbook page and was happy with the way it turned out. This picture is from Sept and I'm just now getting around to getting it scrapped.
Here's a closer look using one of my favorite dies. I haven't had this die very long, but it it fast becoming a go to tool for my pages.

Here's another look at the die, using just the small "petal" part and a fav punch.

And the Christmas mini. I was thinking about using this album as my December Daily . But I've decided to give it to one of my friends for her to use as her DD and make me another one.
I'm trying to get her into scrapbooking and I thought this would be a perfect opportunity for her to see what scrapbooking was all about. I left the inside pages blank that way she could do as much or as little as she wanted and wouldn't feel overwhelmed by it. I'm already in the holiday spirit and very excited this year. Now I'm off to work on my DD and to play around with my November Studio Calico kit.

SMASHing

I finally got a SMASH book and I can not wait to get started on it. I'm so excited I'm not even sure where I want to start. I've been wanting to get a book for a while now, but I'm the type that when I order something I want to order everything at one time and there was a lot of stuff that was out of stock. Not wanting to be left out (hehe) from all the fun everyone is having with the fab books, I decided to order a book with my November Studio Calico kit and I'm glad I did.

This was one of my favorite pages in the book. I thought it was so cute.
These are a few of the other pages that caught my eye as I was flipping through it.
I don't drink coffee, but still love this page.
Love this quote.
Conway Twitty immediately comes to mind here. (Love that song)
A closer look of the front cover before the stickers are removed. I got the Eco Style and I'm already trying to decide which one I'll get next.

But for now I'll just
this one. I'm off to get started!!! Post pictures of it soon.

The Big 3-0

Happy Birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear me, happy birthday to me!!  And a Happy Birthday to my twin brother too.  We celebrated our30th birthday today and I have to say that I was a little depressed.. Not so much about no longer being in my twenties or that its the start of a new decade (that in itself is depressing enough), but more so that I had to celebrate this HUGE birthday without my husband being home. I guess it is what it is, right? Since I was a little depressed and sad I decided that how I needed to celebrate this day was simply to go shopping (I'll use any excuse to go shopping) and these two, my sis-n-law and cute niece went with me.

We had fun. We shopped we ate and just did whatever. Our family usually all gets together to celebrate because we have several birthdays in October and then ours in November, but we had to postpone that event for a later date. Hey thats just something to look forward to though. Tomorrow will be a little family get together starting at my mother-in-law's after church and then tomorrow night at my parents house. So the weekend wont all be bad. And to make things even better, when I got home from my day of shopping I got to do this...
a video chat with David (please excuse his need of a haircut). Seeing him like this is better than not seeing him at all. Today was a good day and I don't think thirty will be so bad. I guess only time will tell.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

A Mini Halloween (a little late)

I made this Halloween mini and I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out. I've watched Laura on YouTube and absolutely love all of her ideas and mini albums. She is very very creative. I used her idea of using envelopes to create the inside pages and using foam for the front cover. Both very cute and easy ideas. I get in such a creative mood after I watch one of her videos or visit her blog. I've just recently started checking out her blog because I was ok with just watching her videos, but then I realized that I probably was missing a whole lot so I've started going to her blog. And I have to say that I'm glad I did and I will continue to.

So onto more about the album. Here's a close up of the front cover. I really loved this idea and how cute it turned out. I will be using this technique again.
This is the first page. I added tags  and a spider to the top of the pull out photo mat.
This pictures is of the back of the first page and the second page. There is a lot of space for pictures and journaling with the way this envelope mini is done.
I did a little heat embossing on this page.
I decided to do just one tag here.
I did two small pull out tags here. They could be for photos or journaling.
This is just a large photo mat with heat embossing.

This is the last page. Again more heat embossing.

And the last page spread out.
I kept this mini album very simple because I was thinking of giving it away and that way the person I gave it to could add their own touch and style. But who knows I may keep it and finish it for myself. (hehe) That's all for now.
