K & R

October is month full of birthdays, family members and friends both. Almost every week in October I know someone who is having a birthday. This week two of my very best friends and co-workers had birthdays just one day apart. We did lunch and then back at the office we had cupcakes that I made, both lunch and the cupcakes were delish. I whipped up cards for both girls and thought I would share them today. I'm not really a card maker, but I also have stopped buying cards because I refuse to spend six or seven dollars on something that most people just toss anyway. With as much scrapbooking stuff that I have making a card is not a problem so that's what I did.
Very simple cards, but I think super cute. I also did some embossing on both and even sprayed the top with one with some Heidi Swapp color shine. It didn't take me 15 min to create both cards and the envelopes for them. That's my kind of craftiness. :)

And since its Friday and the cupcakes were Auh-maz-ing I couldn't show them, but I mean can you really go wrong with chocolate cake with a surprise in the middle (a mini reese's) and peanut butter frosting? I think not. I found the recipe on Pinterest and had to try it out and I'm so glad that I did. Of course her recipe called for you take make the cake from scratch I think not, I mean who has time for that?? But the frosting is a keeper for sure. Here's to a great weekend!!

In 3's

I have three nieces on David's side of the family. Two of the three have birthdays in May that are only 3 days apart and the other one has a birthday in July. Well for whatever reason, they didn't get around to doing their parties until last weekend and since I've been doing their cakes for the past few years, I was asked to make them cakes this year as well. Of course I said yes! I was told by their mom that I didn't need to do 3 cakes two would be enough and that they would be ok with just two cakes. So I said ok, I mean two cakes is less work then three for me so I was super excited about that. Well after I got home and got to thinking about it, I knew there was no way I could just do two cakes. That meant that one of the three would have to share a cake and I just couldn't have that. So I thought I'd do two cakes and some cupcakes (you know I love me some cupcakes), but even that didn't seem right because one would still be without a cake. So being that rock star aunt that I am ;) I decided do a cake for each of them. While I'm sure they all had ideas for a theme or what type of cake they wanted, I was told I could do whatever I wanted and whatever was easiest for me. So I thought of colors and then got online for super simple frosting ideas and for at least one I hadn't done before.

And this is what I came up with and all three girls where so excited and happy that they each got their own cake and that made me happy too!! It didn't take long for me to decide on colors and I've done the ruffle and rose frosting before even though with this rose cake you would think that I'd never frosting a cake before LOL.

I just whipped up the butterfly, heart and pendant banners using some scrapbooking stuff I had on hand and once again the girls loved it. Always puts a smile on face when I can put a smile on theirs.
I also made them some birthday cards since I didn't pick any up at the store before hand + I'm kind of over buying and paying $5 for cards when I know most people just throw them away so I again I just used some of my scrapbook stuff and made them each a card.
These were very simple and easy to make cards, just my type. Hope your having a great week so far. Thanks for stopping by.

Be Mine!

                                                        Happy Valentine's Day!!

I love Valentine's Day, I always have. I love it even more when the Mr. is home. I love the fact that there is one day set aside for love and that one special person. What can I say I'm sucker for love (how many times can I say the word love?).

Made some simple cupcakes to take to work to celebrate "LOVE" day. They were yummy if I do say so myself.

I hope everyone had a fantastic day!

Preheated the oven

Decided today would be a good day to make cookies. I love to make cookies, chocolate chip, peanut
butter, no bake, but sugar cookies are not my thing. I love to eat the ones you get at Wal-Mart that has the BEST icing on them. YUMMY! But I'm not one to roll out the dough and use cookie cutters even though I have lots of cutters. I don't know what it is, I guess I'd just rather buy my sugar cookies because I know I'll like them and eat them.

Even though I knew I was going to make peanut butter blossoms and David wanted me to make him some no bake cookies to send him, I thought I'd try my hand at sugar cookies and I of course went the easy way and am using Betty Cocker cookie mix we'll see how it goes. I've been on Pinterest looking for good cookie and icing receipes becuase I'm a firm believer that the icing is what makes a sugar cookie. I do believe I have found a winner that I'll be trying out sometime and I'll let you know how that goes. But for now here are the blossoms that I know are good.

And I will neither comfrim nor deny that I have already eaten three of them. You'll never know.

The Party

David was home this last week and on Saturday he threw me a birthday party. Very low key with family and a few friends, it was so much fun. I have a twin brother, Tracy who is in NY working and didn't get to make it home, but he'll be home for Thanksgiving so I'm sure we'll celebrate again!

We hung out outside and David grilled burgers and we had lots of other goodies to go with them. It was even cold enough for a fire so we got to use our firepit for the second or third time since we got it. I love when we can just hang outside by the fire.

I whipped up these super cute "hearts in a jar" for some table decorations and love the way they turned out. I think I may just have to keep them sitting out somewhere.

Outside we didn't do much as far as decorations go. We just set up some tables and added candles in mason jars and put out these cute lanterns that I got way back when from IKEA. And yes, it is the first of November and our yard still needs to be mowed, but we've decided the heck with it, it'll get cold enough soon enough and it won't be an issue. ha!

And of course the fire.

We really did have a lot of fun and laughed SO MUCH & SO HARD my cheeks hurt. Thanks, Babe for the party! Love you.

Yummy x2

This past Halloween all I did was make yummy stuff to eat. Since we don't have any babies there really isn't a lot to do on Halloween for us, even though it is one of my favorite holidays. I love the costumes and of course the candy. But this year I decided to make carmel apples. I mean who doesn't love anything that only calls for two main ingrediants right? I know I do.

Even though they look and taste yummy let's face it there really is no way to eat one and look lady like, so I've started using a knife to cut it up then eat. It doesn't take away from the fun of eating them one bit, you still have the carmel every where.

But I didn't stop with the apples, I also whipped up some not so spooky cupcakes.

And this was as "dressed up" as we got. hehe

Pink

October is breast cancer awareness month and while I have not had anybody close to me affected by this type of cancer, I have had several members of my family die from other types of cancer. So I'm all about showing support for cancer research and hope that one day there will be a cure for all types. Today at work we decided to show our support for breast cancer awareness by having a staff lunch and bringing pink desserts and wearing pink.

I couldn't decide what type of pink dessert I wanted to make and when that happens I always go with cupcakes. I love cupcakes, they are easy to make and are just plain cute. I decided to spruce up them and make some toppers to go on them. I love the way a cute topper can change everything. It took me about thirty minutes to make 24. I can't decide which I like best though.

I've also been wanting to try to make chocolate covered marshmallows and they were super easy and yummy to boot! I'll for sure be making these again.

Here's to breast cancer awareness and hope for a cure.
