I {Heart} NY

So I went on a little mini vacay this past week to see the hubbs. It was also what we called ourValentines. And we ended up in NYC for a day. Neither one of have ever been there and he wasn't to thrilled that I wanted to go, but we were that close so there was no way I wasn't gonna go. I mean what's the chances that I'll ever get to go back? Ok the chances are actually pretty good. I'm already planning another trip to NYC in the near future and can not wait. There is so much that I want to do becuase we didn't get to do any of it, but I have a list and will be a little better prepared and it won't be as overwhelming the next go 'round. There are so many people and building and just stuff everywhere and I'll admit I panicked a little when we first got there because there was just so much to take in and I didn't have a clue where we needed to start or what direction we needed to go in. But thanks to a NYC map and David we managed to walk around for hours and hours and didn't get lost. Thats always a good thing.
Took this pictue on the bus ride in. Are you overwhelmed yet? I wasn't either at this point. (hehe)
Even seen Edward Scissorhands walking the streets of New York City. I couldn't resist taking a picture of him.

I so wanted to do the observation deck on top of Rockefeller Center. We went in, found out where we needed to buy our tickets, bought said tickets, and went up. I went through security and was waiting on David to get through, I look back and he's talking to the security guard waving at me. He had a pocket knife and they wouldn't let him go through. It the knife had cost less than the tickets I would have told him to get rid of it, but as is the case the knife cost more and thankful we got our money back on the tickets. So that is on the list of stops for when I return. I was a little bummed about it, but I'm over it now. I mean I'm going back so no problem.

I thought this pink elephant was super cute. Not really sure what it was doing on the side of the street, but I snapped a picture any way. I mean its not everyday you see a pink elephant hanging out.

I've got lots more to share so I'll be back. Thanks for stopping by.

Be Mine

Happy Love Day!!

Meet my Valentine...
This is my Valentine. I love this man and I am so glad that I get to call him my Valentine year after year. He is way to good to me, but lets just keep that between you and me okay? This makes the thirteenth year I've got to call him my Valentine and looking back over the years I wouldn't have it any other way. We've had highs and lows, but in the end he is the one who I want to call All Mine!
Hugs and kisses babe. I love you!! I hope everyone is having a wonderful LOVE day!!

Snow, But No Snow Day

Woke up this morning to a fresh blanket of white stuff on the ground. I've been wanting snow for the past month and finally got it, but no snow day. I mean the whole point in getting snow is to have a snow day right?  At least that is the way it is here because we don't get snow that often. But I do prefer to have snow days when my hubby is home. So I guess maybe it worked out.

It was funny going to work this morning and seeing all the 4-wheelers in the back of trucks, becuase that is what we do here when it snows, we play. We got way more snow last year and did have a couple snow days and it was so much fun. Here are some pictures from our snow days last year.
Proof that all you need is a tube and a 4-wheeler to have a little fun.
Or maybe just a bucket for some kids to have fun. (wink) Oh what fun times. Here's hoping we will get another snow that will result in a snow day.

PS. Don't forget tomorow is Valentine's Day!!!

Hello February

February is one of my favorite months and it has nothing to do with Valentine's Day I swear (wink). Ok I love Valentine's Day and all that goes with it. I love the fact that a whole day has been set aside to shower the one you love with gifts and chocolate and gifts and lots of love and did I mention gifts? I'm a sucker when it comes to Valentines except for flowers. My husband knows not to send me flowers on Valentines Day just give me that money so I can use it on something that won't be dead in a day or two. Send me flowers just becuase and when the price hasn't been jacked up three times the normal price. But with that all being said, I also love to decorate for this holiday and with all the goodies that are floating around out there I decided to make a little something new this year and wouldn't you know it, I've got the bug and I've already got several other things planned to make as soon as I get the stuff I need. Tonight I made this "framed art" using these hearts.

I couldn't decide if I wanted to do the garland like she did or do something else with the hearts. I decided to try something else, but I'm pretty sure I'll be making more hearts and creating a garland.
Here is what I made.
I like the way it turned out minus the black frame. That's all I had handy, I want to get a white frame and am now on a mission for a super cute white frame to use.

Here it is on the mantle with a heart garland that I made seveal years ago. I'm thinking this maybe the last time the heart garland gets used. There are just way to many cute ideas out there in bloggerville not to try and recreate, not to mention it's a pain to keep on the mantle. Any ideas on that?
That's all I've got for now, but like I said I have the creative bug and my next project includes wooden letters and lots of glitter. Can't wait to get started. Thanks for stopping by.

Baby It's Cold Outside

I made a layout using the January Studio Calico kit. The picture is from last January when we got so much snow and had a snow day which meant no work. That's my kind of day! :)
I love the wood veneer letters and so wishing that I had another set or three.
The 2 brad didn't come with this kit, but it come with another kit.
I've already got a few more ideas that I want to do with this kit. I"ll be back with more soon.

Wanna Be Baker

This weekend we celebrated my grandmother's 83rd and oldest nephew's 17th ( I feel so old) birthdays. So of course I was in charge of the cakes. Since my nephew has played football since he was little and is still playing I decided to do a football cake for him. Super simple and easy. Love those types of cakes when it takes longer to bake them then to actually decorate them. That's my kind of cake.

And for my grandmother's cake I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. So to the internet I went and came across this really pretty picture of a "ruffle" cake and loved it. It was simple and very pretty not to mention it didn't look like it would be very hard or take that long to do. It didnt't take me long at all, but I learned that my "ruffle" needs practice. I'm not sure if it was the icing (which is so what I'm blaming it on) or my technique (yeah, right). It still turned out looking ok and of course she loved it.
I will definitely be doing this cake again. I'm still kicking myself for writing the site down where I ran across this cake, but I'll be doing a google search later to see if I can find that particular site. She had pretty amazing things on there.  It really is a pretty idea for a cake. Whenever I do a cake that doesn't cause me to throw things around my kithcen, it always puts in a baking mood. I want to bake and make cakes and just be able to whip 'em out like nobody's busness, but that is never the case. I still love making cakes and I am ready for my next challange, my niece's 2nd birthday. Still no theme yet, but I hope I'll be able to make something fabulous. I guess we will see. Wish me luck.

Project Life 2012 cover page

I really wanted to start posting my weekly "layouts" for PL, but the page protectors I want are still not in stock and won't be till the end of the month or first part of next month. I have other page protectors that I thought about using, but I really want my weekly layouts to use design A. So until I can get those ordered and get caught up the only thing I have to share is my cover page.
I liked the way that Susan Weinroth did her cover page, so cute, but I really liked the note she did at the bottom saying their names, ages, where they are currently living, and about their dog. So I decided to do that this year. Even though I'll be behind on posting my weekly pages I'm still taking pictures and making notes so I don't forget what all has/will happen before I get the rest of my pieces. Also I signed up for Studio Calico's first online class, Photo A Day, to help me stay motivated not to mention all the great picture ideas these ladies have. Love looking at others peoples pictures and getting a glimpse at stuff I wouldn't be able to otherwise. But for now my pictures will stay on either my memory card or in a file on my computer and one day they will be printed and put out there for the world to see. :)

A Mini for 2012

I was on Elizabeth Kartchner's blog and seen where she had posted about a 2012 mini album and after seeing what she made and where she got the kit I just had to make one for myself. You can print the kits from this site (I'll for sure be checking that blog out again and soon) and make your own little mini too. There are only a few pages to it, but I really liked the idea.  I just used my Cinch to bind it all together.

I went with Instax pictures also. Just thought they fit the book.

This page is for David. I'll snap a pic of him when he gets home since I didn't have an Instax of him laying around and with any luck I'll talk him into filling out the questionnaire. There was even a questionnaire for kids, so cute. Wish we had a couple.

A part of the kit is to write yourself a letter and read it at the end of the year. So I included an envelope and added stuff my letter in it.
I wonder at the end of the year if I'll remember to read the letter I wrote to myself. I guess I'll find out. That's all there is to it. Simple and easy. After I finished I kind of wished that I had included a picture of Daisy (our dog), but I didn't. Maybe next year. I'm glad this kit was shared.

Hello 2012

Welcome 2012. I hope everyone has their resolutions written down and are ready to tackle them. I however did not make any. I mean why set myself up to fail? Just kidding. I have a few things that I want to work on this year and I am hoping to stick with it. We shall see. But I have to say that I am more excited about my husband's resolution than any of mine. My fingers are crossed that he manages to do it. (You can do it babe).
I was lucky enough to be off yesterday to celebrate the new year. So instead of doing anything useful like clean my house or do the laundry I did a couple scrapbook pages and watched a lot of t.v. Oh, well what are holidays for if you can't enjoy them right? Am I right? I know I'm right!! (wink) But I wanted to posted some pictures of the layouts, you know since I'm a wanna be scrapbooker and all. I really wish I was as talented as some of my most favorite scrapbookers, but I'm not so I'll just have to share my layouts here where no one looks and be happy with that for now. That is one of my resolutions, to actually post a layout or two on one of the sites where I am a member and see what kind of feed back I get if any. We'll see how it goes. But for now here are my most recent layouts.

First up, TODAY. Using some of my Studio Calico kit. I really need to learn how to photograph a layout. (Another resolution)!

And YOU MAKE ME SMILE.

Again using some of a Studio Calico kit and other bits laying on my desk. For whatever reason I'm in a mood for some serious scrapbooking so I'm off to complete some more layouts. Thanks for stopping by.
