Tote ♥ // DIY

Good Monday morning to you! I thought today I'd share a DYI on some totes that I made for all four of our nieces birthdays. They were super simple and fun to make. The hardest part was deciding on what I wanted to put on them. Since this was my first time trying to do this I went with a big old heart because, well it was the easiest thing I could think of and I thought it worked out for little girls.

For this DYI all you need is a tote, iron,  freezer paper, some paint, a foam paint brush, and I got lazy and bought the iron on letters for the initials, and a die cutting machine, I used my Cameo to cut out the heart.

Step 1- iron the tote to get rid of some of the wrinkles.
Step 2- cut out the shape you want to use using the freezer paper then iron it onto the tote (shiny side down)
Step 3- using whatever color you want, paint the cut out shape. I had to do two coats to make sure that the entire area was covered and you couldn't see the color of the tote peeking through
Step 4- let the paint dry completely.
Step 5- here is where I got lazy and instead of cutting out the initials and doing more painting I just bought the iron on letters. I picked these up at Hobby Lobby. Place them where and how you'd like them to look on tote and follow the instructions on the packages to iron them onto the tote.
Step 6- Ta-da. A cute and easy gift to give out.

I really like this project and I have so many other ideas that I want to try. I know some people have made throw pillows or dish towels and I am going to give that a try too. The possibilities really are endless. Now its your turn to go give it  try. Good luck.

Boo- DIY

I've been wanting to make something decorative for Halloween for a couple of weeks now, but since I live an hour from a craft store my options are Wal-Mart or Wal-Mart. Needless to say that they don't have a lot of crafty things to choose from. But I managed to to pick a project that I've been wanting to do and they had everything (not exactly what I was going for, but close enough) that I needed to get a really simple and quick DIY project done. So with my supplies in hand I headed home and set to work.

Step 1 and 2 are basically the same. I first started by painting the block black all over and then once that was dry I went over it with oragne. The glow orange didn't work so I switched to a pure orang color.

Step 3- Then I used my Circut to cut out my letters. Here is where I was wishing that I had a Silhouette Cameo to use. It's on top of Christmas list though. So here's hoping!!

Step 4- I used my XYRON to make stickers out with my letters.

And then added the letters where I wanted them.

 I then picked out a couple border stickers to use

Step 5- I cut them to the size I wanted/needed and added them to the cover. After I had everything on the front the way I wanted it I went over the entire front with Mod Podge just to seal it really good so I wouldn't have to worry about any of it coming off.

Step 6- I cut a piece of ribbon and used my hot glue gun to attach it to the back. And you're done! Hang it wherever you want. After I was finished and was looking at it, all I could think of was that it was  kind of plain and wished I had some purple bling or rhinestones to add to it. I'm hoping the next time I'm in a craft store I'll remember to pick some up and then I can either add them to it now or wait till next year.  I know its a super simple and easy project, but with the limited supplies I could find this will have to do. Cork Board // DIY

This weekend I did a little DIY cork board makeover, nothing major or hard at all. I know that I am not the only person who has ever done this, but this is the first DIY I've done and put on the blog so I wanted to share it. I bought the cork board forever ago at Target and found some fabric and the hooks (half off) at Hobby Lobby forever ago too and finally got around to doing it this weekend.

Again super simple and easy to do. For now I just used push pins to hold the hooks in place until I get some screws that will work, but I haven't had any problems with pins so I may just roll with it like that.  I plan on hanging pictures and anything else that hopefully, will get the creative juices flowing. I'm wanting to do more DIY things and thanks to Pintrest I've got a few things I'm wanting to get started on. Now its your turn, go do your own DYI board and have fun!
