The Big 3-0

Happy Birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear me, happy birthday to me!!  And a Happy Birthday to my twin brother too.  We celebrated our30th birthday today and I have to say that I was a little depressed.. Not so much about no longer being in my twenties or that its the start of a new decade (that in itself is depressing enough), but more so that I had to celebrate this HUGE birthday without my husband being home. I guess it is what it is, right? Since I was a little depressed and sad I decided that how I needed to celebrate this day was simply to go shopping (I'll use any excuse to go shopping) and these two, my sis-n-law and cute niece went with me.

We had fun. We shopped we ate and just did whatever. Our family usually all gets together to celebrate because we have several birthdays in October and then ours in November, but we had to postpone that event for a later date. Hey thats just something to look forward to though. Tomorrow will be a little family get together starting at my mother-in-law's after church and then tomorrow night at my parents house. So the weekend wont all be bad. And to make things even better, when I got home from my day of shopping I got to do this...
a video chat with David (please excuse his need of a haircut). Seeing him like this is better than not seeing him at all. Today was a good day and I don't think thirty will be so bad. I guess only time will tell.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

A Mini Halloween (a little late)

I made this Halloween mini and I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out. I've watched Laura on YouTube and absolutely love all of her ideas and mini albums. She is very very creative. I used her idea of using envelopes to create the inside pages and using foam for the front cover. Both very cute and easy ideas. I get in such a creative mood after I watch one of her videos or visit her blog. I've just recently started checking out her blog because I was ok with just watching her videos, but then I realized that I probably was missing a whole lot so I've started going to her blog. And I have to say that I'm glad I did and I will continue to.

So onto more about the album. Here's a close up of the front cover. I really loved this idea and how cute it turned out. I will be using this technique again.
This is the first page. I added tags  and a spider to the top of the pull out photo mat.
This pictures is of the back of the first page and the second page. There is a lot of space for pictures and journaling with the way this envelope mini is done.
I did a little heat embossing on this page.
I decided to do just one tag here.
I did two small pull out tags here. They could be for photos or journaling.
This is just a large photo mat with heat embossing.

This is the last page. Again more heat embossing.

And the last page spread out.
I kept this mini album very simple because I was thinking of giving it away and that way the person I gave it to could add their own touch and style. But who knows I may keep it and finish it for myself. (hehe) That's all for now.

Happy Birthday (cards)

I've made a few birthday cards this month. Two being for Ros and Kathryn's birthdays (see post below).

And both my Mom and Dad's birthdays are in October so I decided to make their cards this year too.
All of the cards say "Happy Birthday" inside except for my father's card. It says this,
It fits him and everyone, including him, thought that it was funny. My husband is the one who picked that stamp out just for a card for my father. It was a perfect match. I've got some other scrappy stuff hopefully coming soon, but that's all I've got for now.

Spooky enough to eat

I made these Halloween themed cupcakes for a lady I work with (her birthday was the 25th). I think they turned out pretty cute. I love to make cupcakes, but wish I was better at it. I know they say practice makes perfect so I guess that means I need to make more cupcakes. (hehe)
I love the way the ghosts turned out and thought they were perfect as toppers.
A closer look at the ghosts.
I've done a lot of cupcakes/cake this past week and I know I just said practice makes perfect, but I'm hoping not to practice for a couple of weeks. (hehe). Thanks for stopping by.

Bethany's Pizzeria

Welcome to Bethany's Pizzeria!! We had our monthly meeting of the minds today over at Bethany's and she made pizza. It was delish. We've only been getting together for a couple of months now and it is so much fun. We talk about everything under the sun, catch  up on whats going on, and of course we eat. We have a good time.

We also celebrated these two ladies birthdays. Rosalind's is tomorrow and Kathryn's is Monday.

Happy Birthday Ladies!!

Of course I had my camera so we took a few pictures.

And a group shot.

Already looking forward to next months "meeting".

Scrapbook Pages

Finally did a scrapbook layout using Studio Calico's October kit, Field Guide. I only got the main kit this month, but wish i would have gotten some of the add on kits too. Nothing to fancy about this page, I had this Instax picture laying around and wanted to use it on a page so this was what I ended up making. I like the way it turned out.

The journaling says, "Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things." ~ Robert Brault. I ran across this quote and thought it was perfect for so many reasons.

Since I already had a mess on my desk I decided to do another page using bits and pieces of stuff that was laying close by and this picture that has been on my desk forever. It turned out ok I think. I'm still in a semi-creative mood so hopefully there will be more layouts soon.

Bored

This is what my husband looks like when we are in a store that doesn't interest him. LOL! It was so funny to look up and see him sitting there, ever so patiently (yeah right!). I had to snap a picture of it.

Love you babe!

#813

I went to Houston this weekend to see David. Got there late Friday night and got home late last night. I love little weekend getaways. I really love them when its to go see my husband. We didn't do a whole lot over the weekend. Saturday we did watch OU kill Texas. Go SOONERS!!

It rained ALL DAY Sunday. But we were brave and got out in it to do a little shopping and exploring.
That about sums up our weekend. Nothing major, but still good times together.

Hello October

I can't believe we are already well into October. I love Fall. I love the Fall weather and all the colors that go with it. I also love the Halloween/Fall decorations and I've been trying to get those out and work on a few new decorations for both. I'll try to get pictures posted sometime soon. I know some don't consider it to be a blog post when no pictures are posted (I know I don't), but it's been a busy week and I've been gone all weekend so this short post will have to work until tomorrow.

Ride 'em

Got my camera back on Friday. So excited that they got it done so quickly because this evening I went to watch my newphew ride some bulls and of course take some pictures. He did pretty good. It was fun to watch. Here are a few of the shots I got. He rode two bulls and I think on the second one he even rode the full 8 seconds.

This dog stayed inside the reing the whole time they were riding. He helped out a little bit too.
